Research Help

In Design Practice, Design Process, Promo on September 9, 2010 at 8:20 pm

My project for my core studio this semester involves designing a rapid transit station (it’s interdisciplinary, and I’ll be working with architects, but that’s the long and short of it). The first phase involves doing some research and case studies of existing stations, at least one of them international (and at least one of them local, but I got that covered).

If you or someone you know has occasion to go through either of these stations, I have some questions for you! Leave me a way to contact you in the comments, or email me (ndp-at-ndpdesign-dot-com):

  • Boston, MA – Porter Square (red line/commuter rail)
  • London, UK – Arnos Grove (picadilly line)

Incidentally, I started a new Pinterest board for this as well. Lots of peoples pictures of underground stations!

  1. Arnos Grove is a bit out of the way I’m afraid. I don’t know anyone who lives that far north. Does it have to be Arnos Grove? I know plenty of people who use stations on the Northern Line between Clapham South, or Seven Sisters on the Victoria Line, or London Bridge on the Jubilee Line and the centre of town.

    • I’m looking at Arnos Grove because it’s a piece of gorgeous architecture (as far as I can tell!), but I’ll take a look at some of those places and see if they’ll work for me. Thanks for the suggestions!

  2. I took the train to and from Porter Square for years. Let me know if I can help.
